World Digital Library

The World Digital Library (or WDL ) is an international digital library operated by the American Library of Congress and UNESCO.  Four years in the making, the World Digital Library went on line ( www.wdl.org ), offering free access to hundreds of books, manuscripts, maps, photographs and sound and film recordings , all considered world treasure.  The website is open to everyone -- scholars, teachers, historians -- but much focus is placed on reaching young minds who are exposed to Internet material of questionable quality.
